OUR PHILOSOPHY

Body of Health is a Family-Friendly Wellness Clinic. To understand our philosophy it is helpful to use the analogy of a car. If you own a car you know that there are certain responsibilities that come along with it. You have to wash it, change the oil from time-to-time, and keep the gas tank full among other tasks. When we neglect to do these simple things it doesn’t take long before we start to damage our car or even find ourselves broken down on the side of the road. Our bodies are no different except that you can get a new car but you only get one body. By engaging in wellness care it is possible to avoid many problems. It is our philosophy that chiropractic care, massage therapy, diet and exercise counseling, among other things can help you lead a happier, healthier life. Just as you don’t have time for a broken down car, flat tire, or an empty gas tank; you can’t afford to have chronic pain, dysfunction and anything short of optimal health.

We understand that the occasional accident is unavoidable. We take a conservative approach to getting your body back into working order. If we can’t give you the help you need we will find you the right type of provider to handle your healthcare needs. YOU as the patient are our first priority at Body of Health.

WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

Chiropractic is a drug-free, non-surgical, all-natural form of health care. It is highly effective for managing neuromusculoskeletal (that’s nerves, muscles, and joint) conditions. In fact research has confirmed that chiropractic manipulation is as effective as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Ibuprofen, Advil, etc.) for low back pain without side effects such as digestive tract irritation. But chiropractic care is not just about back pain. It can also be effective for managing conditions such as headaches, numbness, tingling, weakness, extremity joint pain and more. But chiropractic is not always about an injury, illness or condition. Chiropractic is a lifestyle that promotes optimal health through proper spinal alignment, peak neurological function, full nutrition, and muscular balance. Chiropractors use skilled manipulations to correct joint dysfunction in the spine. They also use a variety of techniques and physiotherapies including: deep tissue massage, soft tissue techniques, therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat, and more.

Chiropractic is safe and effective for a variety of conditions and people. Dr. Young will answer any questions you have about chiropractic care and help to determine whether you are a good candidate for the power of chiropractic.

ABOUT YOUR FIRST CHIROPRACTIC VISIT:

At Body of Health we do our best to make sure that the healing starts the second you walk through the door. When you arrive at the clinic you will be greeted in our serene lobby where you can enjoy some nice music and our sky lit atrium. Our receptionist will offer you a bottle of water which you can enjoy while you fill our new patient paperwork. You may also come prepared with your paperwork filled out by clicking this link. Please arrive a few minutes before your scheduled appointment allow time for all of this.

Once you have finished your paperwork and reviewed our privacy policy the doctor will carefully review what you have indicated on the forms and you will be escorted to our examination room. If you have brought children with you they are welcome to accompany you or they may play in our child friendly lobby. When the doctor is ready to see you, the initial examination will begin with a brief health history interview. During this time you can explain about your symptoms or health goals. The doctor may ask you additional questions to discover the best way to meet your needs. After the health history is complete the doctor will perform a thorough examination which typically includes postural assessment, evaluation of your ranges of motion, neurological/vascular tests, orthopedic tests, and a spinal examination.

Once the history and exam are complete, the doctor will discuss a working diagnosis with you and explain the plan for treatment. Most patients are treated at the time of their first visit and the doctor will cover the purpose, risks, and benefits of each step of treatment before it is administered. You should feel free to ask any questions throughout the entire process.

Most treatment plans involve a series of treatments. Healing is a process and the doctor will monitor your progress and assist with treatment and therapies. At the conclusion of the initial treatment the doctor will make a recommendation of when to schedule a follow-up visit. It is your choice to follow the recommendation but you can rest assured that it is based on the doctor’s clinical experience and the prevailing evidence for treating your condition.

Before leaving the clinic you should stop at the front desk to pay for your visit and schedule your follow-up. Our friendly staff will be happy to assist you by providing a reminder card for your next visit. You can plan on the entire visit lasting between 45 minutes and 1 hour depending on the complexity of your case. Follow-up visits typically last between 15-20 minutes.
